Helly Hansen Open Mountain Campfire Hike with Juho Lukkari at Nuuksio National Park, Finland

Helly Hansen Open Mountain Month, celebrated around the world in June, invites people to go outdoors together with others. The campaign’s idea is to lower the threshold to go outside, inspire new outdoor experiences and turn nature and social wellbeing into lasting wellbeing habits.

Welcome to spend a summer evening in Nuuksio along the heritage hiking route. During the evening we will move in nature guided by mountain guide Juho Lukkari, hear tips for hiking and stop by the campfire to enjoy being together and treats in the middle of nature.

The event is open to everyone — whether you are an experienced hiker or just getting excited about the outdoors. The program is in Finnish.

That was the add that got my attention and of course I joined the hike.

Juho Lukkari is an experienced and certified mountain guide, who has traveled places that many only dream of. Now they were here in Nuuksio to share stories and inspiration to others to follow and find their own paths.

Juho took us through the paths of the Nuuksio and told some stories from their adventures and gave some tips on how to enjoy the nature and world around, how to stop and breath, and feel the moment.

We started from The Finnish Nature Centre Haltia and walked clockwise some 4 km to a hut that was rented and prepared for us.

There was some food and treats was offered, and also of course some propaganda gifts, as this was all-in-all Helly Hansen sponsored event. Juho and one other person, who’s name I forgot, demoed some hiking tips for us.

There were some pulla and chocolate and brie and halloumi cheese…

Veggies for the grill…

Sausages and hotdogs with different fillings…

…and some bananas, that I filled with chocolate and grilled and ate with the brie. ❤

…also some bubbling water and smoothies were offered.

Juho unpacked their backpack and showed what they had packed in there for a weekend hike.

Down jacket and other relevant gear. And also the Helly Hansen cup that fits perfectly together with a hiker’s coffee press.

The other one told us about cooking in the wild so one does not need to always to eat freeze dried adventure meals.

We got a quick lecture on how to dry and prep things at home before the hike and how to prepare different foods when on the trails and in the wild.

The final showdown was a draft lottery where one person won a new Helly Hansen backpack to take home with them.

Juho had the honors to draw the winner…

And the backpack found a new home.

Overall there was about 30 person in the event in total and one furry friend.

The weather was not the bestest when the event started. Warm and high humidity and some rain. But it cleared out and at the hut we had a nice evening and were able to eat and mingle outside without any problems.

Ty H/H for arranging an event like this and for the free gifts…

Till next time…
