Kiilopää – Saariselkä – Ivalo – Inari – Karigasniemi – Akumaja – pt.3 of the Lapland autumn colors trip

Our destination was the Akumaja, a cabin owned by the Suomen Latu. They rent it for the associations registered under the Suomen Latu and for the people who are part of these member associations.

We had a group of eight (8) people, mainly from the Jyväskylän Latu, who had booked the Akumaja cabin for a week for a autumn colors trip.

The plan was that the others would do day trips from the cabin and use the cabin as a base camp and I would do some longer hike alone into the wilderness area.

The drive for the day would only be about 200 km and some 2h30.

Ebin image dump incoming…

(All pictures are taken from the backseat with a cell phone and the phone sadly focuses most of the time on the windshield and not to the infinity, so there will be blur in the pictures.)

Some driving…

Some shopping…
Partioaitta at Saariselkä.

Some shopping…
Eräsoppi at Ivalo.

PaPaNa, a place for a kebab and live gigs in Inari.

Departing from the national road 4 / E75 towards Karigasniemi.

Arriving to the Karigasniemi.

Some food will be had…

Tho I took some ice cream. ❤

And then we drove again towards the Akukoski, north from Karigasniemi, following the river Tana aka Teno.

At the parking…
…only a 3.5 km walk ahead.

The food and backpacks packed into a atv, a service that was ordered and paid to deliver our gear and food from the parking to the Akumaja cabin…

(…would not recommend this service, as the driver did not secure the load properly, as a result of which some of the goods fell from the vehicle during the transportation and were damaged. – The driver claimed that the incident was the customer’s responsibility.)

Arriving to the Akumaja cabin.

The sauna by the river.

The Akujoki river by the sauna.

A view from the Akumaja window.

A view from the front porch.
