Food Prepping for the Lappland trip – pt.1 of the Lapland autumn colors trip

I was planning a 4-6 day hike in the Lapland, at the Paistunturi wilderness area.

And for a hike, one needs some food…

What I got from a shop…

Drying some veggies…

End result.
– 2 x 150 spinish
– 2 x 200 g pea, corn, carrot mix
– 2 x 250 g pea, cauliflower, bean, carrot mix

These will be added to the stew bases that I’ll prepare.

As these pots or stews are basically only rice and some spice powder they really need some veggies added into them. – I spitted each bag into two, as one bag says 2 – 4 portions.

For the protein I dried 4 cans of tuna and split one box of NoBeef and one box of NoChicken plant based protein thingie, so I had 8 pags of stew pot base and a protein to add to each of them and some veggies to throw in.

For a breakfast I split a box of granola into six (6) bags and added one portion bag of chocolate drink powder into them, so I would have a warm high carbs breakfast for each morning.

Also prepped six (6) bags of dried fruits and mixed some honey salted almonds, cashew and cranberries into the mix.

Out of the picture there were also couple “just add water” meal bags from Kuivalihakundi and Tactical Foodpack.

Total weight for this food, excluding the couple meal bags were about 1250 g for the stew bags + 530 g for the granola + 930 g for the fruit-berry-nuts snacks + 245 g noodles + 540 g for the energy gels, snacks bars and sport drink tablets == ~3,5 kg.

My plan was to boil some water and throw into to a food thermos one set of stew-pot things and wait for some 30 min and a warm meal should be ready for the consumption of a hungry hiker.

To be continued…
