Eastern borderland trip – pt.2 – Petkeljärvi nationalpark

For the third night I headed to the Petkeljärvi national park near Möhkö.

Parked the small little German family car at the Petraniemi camping outdoor center.

Old map that was available showed a well at the sauna building, but the well was a lie
…luckily the water tap at the camping center was open so got my water bottles filled from there with fresh water.

The swampy lake water, pressed through a Grayl, wasn’t that bad, but still fresh water is fresh.

From the parking was a about 2,5 km walk to the Keltasilmä lavvu and tent area.

And yes, the Keltasilmä is actually outside of the national park itself, but at least one gets to walk in the national park, so it kinda still counts, yes?

The hike begins…

…leaving the national park…

…met a froggy on the path doing froggy things…

…the camp site at sight…

Crossed the bridge at the camp site.

The lavvu and a fire place.

The fire pit wasn’t very great, but luckily the forest fire warning was in effect, so there was not going to be any fire at the fire pit anyhow.

Tent set up for tired travelers.

The lavvu and the tent site is in a beautiful place between two waters and a short shallow river going past.

Did I say clear and shallow water?

Summa summarum: the three nights and the four days was worth of every hour spent in there and every kilometer driven. 7/5, would do it again. ❤
…but still there are so many other places to see.

The weather was warm and the wind didn’t bother that much at any location. Only at the last morning there was some light rain, but that didn’t even really wet the ground or the tent that much, so basically got in and out dry and warm.
