This corner…

…has been a headache for me during this winter.
There are two air ducts or vents that provide fresh air into this house on wheels. One of them is in the toilet corner, as you can see. There are another two on the opposite wall at the ceiling level. And the idea is that the warm air goes up and out, pulling fresh air in from the lower vents.
The problem is just that the vent is just above the water pipes and cold air likes to flow down. This causes these pipes to freeze and that blocks the water flow to the toilet sink. And of course puts unnecessary strain on the pipes that might break cause of the ice expanding inside. The problems start around -10°C and quickly escalate when reaching around -25°C. And yes, the radiator next to the vent and the pipes is too far away to keep the pipes from freezing up.
Another problem that I have noticed is the pluming pipe that goes from the sink to under the shower cabin and into the drain as seen in here…

The floor drain has an open pipe to the underneath of the Mökkönen and the cold air comes up from there also. That would not be a problem if the drain would not be half covered by the shower cabin. As there is an open space underneath of the cabin base that won’t heat up that well, the pipes going through there, including the pluming pipe from the sink, gets frozen quite easily during winter.

Solutions?
For the corner pipes:

…I got my old trusty table fan blowing warm air into the corner, as the radiator next to the vent won’t provide enough warmth for the pipes. The fan is a bit noisy solution, but it works and haven’t had any problems with the freezing after this remarkable invention and solution to the problem.
For the longer run and the next winter I need to come up with something more convenient, but this will do for now…
And for the freezing drain?

…just pour some hot water into the sink now and then to keep it flowing.
Life in sometimes interesting and challenging when one lives in a tiny house and wants to enjoy the life and freedom it provides.
Till next time…
