Had some plans to do an autumn adventure up north into the wilderness….
…but life happened, as I was not able to take a week or few days off from my work. Tho even I do work remote I still need to work daily, except on Sat and Sun. Driving all the way to the Lapland near Norwegian borders takes basically one day, as it’s just little short of a 1000 km drive one-way.
I was planning to visit Kilpisjärvi area and maybe see places like Malla, Saana and Halti, but gave up after the only option was to spend a weekend in there. Combine that with full day of driving per direction and trying to work from 9-17 and it starts to get somewhat difficult. Combining two days of driving and working, so one could have two days in the wilderness and then trying to drive and work my way back, was not something I was eager to do…
Second plan was to drive to the Kiilopää in Inari area, visit UKK national park and maybe bike and hike to the Hammastunturi… But as it was “only” about 200 km shorter drive than to the Kilpisjärvi, I forfeited that also.
. . .
My final effort and plan was to drive to the Kuusamo and see the Julma-Ölkky canyon lake in the Hossa national park. – That would have been only about a 500 km drive per direction. I had been in there couple years ago when driving by, but didn’t have the time to actually visit the lake or paddle on it back then.
But this also failed eventually, as the only weekend that I was able to travel, was already booked by other plans that I remembered too late and was unable to cancel…
. . .
So no ebin autumn adventures for me this year. – Maybe life treats me a bit better next autumn and I get to see the autumn colors of the north once again. 🙂
