Mökkönen: things of cooking and ventilation

The Mökkönen did not have any range hood installed into it, so I decided to do some upgrades. It also lacked any lights on top of the cooking area and the burners, so why not fix two things at the same time?

Quick stop at the local Biltema store at the city and got only a fan and a cord with a power switch and some accessories. Added to that two triple-A powered led lamps with Velcro tapes for some illumination. Tho later I decided to use only one lamp after all.

Simple cord with a power switch for the fan.

The fan was IP34 graded and sold as bathroom / shower room extractor, so thought that it might survive the job at hand.

Velcros that came with the lamps were terrible – had to upgrade them immediately.

There was already a hole and a pipe for ventilation above the gas burners, but it lacked a fan. So the idea of the upgrade was to suck all that cooking stuff floating around in the air to go through the fan and out of the Mökkönen, so all the grease and steam vapor from cooking would not float around and taint my small kitchen and home.

Finished product looks something like this.

I might do the cord a bit batter later, when I know what other upgrades I need to do for the kitchen. Also still considering to get an actual hood installed above the burners. – We’ll see how this evolves.
