Third ride around the lake Jyväsjärvi + video project

It was a warm day today, one of the first warm days of the spring in here, around + 20 ºC and mild wind. I expected lot’s of traffic on the Rantaraitti, but it was a pleasant surprise that there wasn’t that much people out there.

Rantaraitti is quite infamous of that there’s sometimes so much people that you really can’t bike in there and many cyclists that ride cyclocrosses and other faster bikes avoid Rantaraitti for that reason as well. There’s even been some petitions and talks of that Rantaraitti should be made wider on some parts because of the popularity of the lane.

But it was a nice warm Saturday to bike around the lake again and my tiny little trusty partner in crime recorded a video of it again.

The Rantaraitti is a paved road that goes around the lake Jyväsjärvi in Jyväskylä Finland, as you might already know. The way is about 12 km long, quite flat and it takes me about 50 min to ride around. As I ride this recumbent’ish bike that’s more a cruiser than a speedster, my average speed is around 15 km/h and I actually run out of gear ratios around +20 km/h, an issue that I might (should) need to tackle in this summer.

Another issue that I might need to look upon is the camera and image quality of it, as it suffers somewhat of the vibration and thou the quality of the videos seems to be “ok”, it could (always) be better.

Also as a first really sunny day riding today, there are some quite huge (nice) lens flares now and then on the video. We’ll see if I can remedy that as well maybe.

But so far so good. Third video recorded and few more to come.
