Corona-Covid-19 is here also and thou the whole country is not under curfew (yet), people here are told to avoid contact with others and should limit the group size to couple people if must meet with people. Schools are open for children of 1st to 3rd grade, but also that is limited to those children who’s parents must work and cannot work from home. Many places are closed, but people still try to work and go on with their lives.
Good thing with a country like Finland is that outside the so called Ring-3 area, that is Helsinki – Espoo Vantaa, aka the capital area, out population density is quite sparse and thou it won’t make everything safe, it does make dealing with the pandemic easier.
So going out for a jog or biking or a stroll alone is a quite fine and acceptable way to spend a part of one’s day…
Today I finally got my recumbent’ish landtrain out from the garage and from it’s hibernation. After going trough all the breaks and the gears and the air pressures on the tires, etc., I decided to go out for the first ride of this season.
Temperatures have been around + 5 ºC daily and about all the snow has already melted away. Thou the lakes are still in a thick cover of ice as the temperature still drops down to -5 – -10 ºC during the night time.

For many years I have had a friend, with whom we been monitoring the lakes and from where the ice melts away and especially when the birds return from the south.
Last Friday I took a stroll around the local lakes with my camera, now all alone this time, and found some first swans that had returned from the south in a small area of open water.
Today I took my bike and rode a bit longer trip, on a bit more wider area, to find if there are more open waters and more birds from the south, but didn’t find any more open waters yet.
As the Covid-Corona-19 pandemic continues and I’m also not allowed to go to my work place, I think I’ll be doing couple more bike trips around, just because I can and while I still have time, before they shutdown everything and no one is allowed to leave one’s home anymore.
And yes. I’m planning to go out alone and probably to the places where there is no other people…
But we’ll see what will come out of this.
Till then, keep safe.
