Autumn is here and it’s been too long since I’ve posted anything, nor even taken my ride out to anywhere.
Today was a quite warm day, around +5 °C, no wind, some light fog and only a hint of a rain. The first snow has already fallen here, but it melted away a day later. Temperatures drop below 0 °C during night time now and then, but mostly we are still well above 0 °C.
So a nice day for a autumn bike trip to a laavu near by.
I packed some clothes and snacks to my panniers, took my camera with me and about some 45 mins and 7 km later I arrived to the destination and was happy to find a little friend waiting for me in there.
It was even a bit curious and came to take a closer look of who came to visit it’s kingdom. Then it disappeared under the laavu and into the forest around.
I had some time by myself, so I parked my bike and took off the wet clothes. I was wearing a wind and waterproof jacket and trousers and had a under layer of merino wool. As I have this nice feature that I do sweat a lot under physical strain, I need dry clothes with me, but alas I came prepared and swapped the mid layer for some nice warm dry wool shirt and later added a layer of fleece to keep me warm while sitting by the fire.
The laavu is near a small pond in a swampy area and it’s also a nice place for a swim during a warm summer day.
The bike doubles as a clothes rack when one wants to dry up something, thou the relative humidity was around 100%, so nothing really dried that much anyway…
Some snacks were had…

And some other people also came around for some warm fire and sausages with mustard. Many people say in Finland that a pan of good black coffee by the fire is a must have, thou I prefer more a cup of tea.
We’ll see if I manage to pull off another trip or two before the snow hits in and my ride goes for a well deserved hibernation till next spring…
