So got my bike and trailer packed.
My plan was to pedal 17 km to a place where I could camp the night and there was a sauna waiting me to be warmed up.
Trip from the city to the countryside was quite nice. Not too much traffic. Not too hot weather.
I had rode couple +15 km trips with my bike and thought that 17 km is not that bad. My fail was that I really didn’t realize how much weight I really had on me.
The trailer is maybe < 10 kg alone and my backpack and side panniers with camping gear was maybe 15 kg = +25 kg extra weight…
The ride there wasn’t impossible, but it was hard and my average speed was about 10 km/h
It took me over two hours to get to my destination…
The next day was horrendous. I didn’t sleep that much, maybe some five hours and I was bit cranky in the morning when I woke up. So I made the bestest decision ever and decided to pack my gear and head back towards the city.
The only problem was that the ride here yesterday was already hard. Second, I didn’t sleep well. So tired, frustrated and out of strength, off I went.
And that was the hardest ride I have had.
Almost three hours for that under 20 km trip. Had to stop after every 15 – 30 min or so to gather my strength and just to rest. My legs were on fire and out of energy and it just wasn’t fun at all.
But a lesson learned and I did complete that trip, all the way there and back, so at least I won myself and really went out of my comfort zone.
